报告主题一：Do Major Customers Help or Hurt Innovation? The Efects of Customer-Base Concentration on Radical and   Incremental Innovation

摘要：

Drawing on theories ofresource dependence and resource allocation, we argue andfind that customer-base concentration is positively associated with incrementalinnovation, and such association is more   pronounced for firms with high   investmentirreversibility   (i.c.. low asset   redeployability).   Although   we do not find a main effect ofcustomer-base concentration on   radical innovation.   we find an interaction effect betweencustomer-base concentration and   investment irreversibility   such that   radical innovation issignificantly   lower in firms   with high   customer concentration and high investmentirreversibility than in   other   firms. Our results   suggest that   firms with high customerconcentration   may allow   their innovation   resource   allocation   decisions to   be shaped bymajor customers, leading   to incremental   innovations at   the expense of radicalinnovations.

江伟，暨南大学会计学系教授，博士生导师，暨南大学管理会计研究中心主任，研究方向:企业投融资行为、高管薪酬、成本管理、行为公司财务与会计等。主持国家自科基金项目3项，教育部人文社科基金、教育部留学回国人员科研启动基金等多项课题，已在《The Accounting Review》、《Journal ofAccountingAuditing and Finance》、《Pacific-Basin Finance Journal》、《Corporate   Governance:   An International Review》、《经济研究》、《会计研究》等权威期刊上发表论文三十余篇。
